At Azura, we pride ourselves on being caring professionals who are passionate about delivering the best possible service. We are especially passionate about children and understand the difficulties associated with experiencing a visit to the dentist for the first time (both for the child and parent), feeling anxious, or for kids who are on the autism spectrum.
We really try to make your child’s appointment a stress free positive experience. Sometimes if your child is too stressed about the appointment we may just have a chat and we may postpone the appointment to a more suitable time or we may ask you to sit in the chair with your child for more reassurance. A child’s check-up will mainly involve a visual inspection, making sure there is nothing unusual with the teeth or gums, such as decay or poorly formed enamel (hypoplasia). It’s important to ensure that the experience is as positive as possible so we go out of our way to make it fun, like getting the kiddies to count their teeth in the mirror.
At Azura we offer Gap-Free Check-ups, Cleans & X-rays for Children if you’re on private healthcare. If you don’t have private healthcare, in Australia, children aged between 2 – 18 may have access to basic dental healthcare through the Child Dental Benefits Scheme (CDBS) giving you up to $1,000 per child over two consecutive calendar years. You can check on the Human Services website to see if you’re eligible.
Tips for Mums and Dads:
- First time to visit the dentist is at age 1
- First time for an X-ray is often at age 4 to 6, but your dentist or therapist will be your guide to when an x-ray is most appropriate.
