Dental Hygiene

You will forget you are even at the dentist.

At Azura we are pleased to offer our Hygiene Service as part of your standard check-up & clean appointment, or where indicated by conditions such as periodontal disease.

Our hygiene services work closely with our dentists giving you the highest standard of care, in a calming spa like environment. We highly recommend patients with dental anxiety experience a clean with our hygienist or oral therapist, and feel the calming effects of having a gentle, thorough clean in a peaceful environment. We have music playing in the background, however if you prefer, we welcome you to bring in your headphones and listen to something you find relaxing to help you feel comfortable throughout your appointment.

Sometimes you may be referred by your dentist for a hygiene clean or periodontal clean. This allows the dentist to carefully monitor your periodontal condition in order to achieve the best outcome and maintain your dental health.

Assisting you with
your overall health

Our hygienists and oral therapists not only perform hygiene cleans for you, but they are also involved in scanning patients for mouth guards or night guards, taking x rays, fissure sealants, fissure protection, filling appointments, in chair teeth whitening and are also heavily involved in our Sleep Disordered Breathing screening. As with all of our team at Azura, our practitioners are dedicated to looking at you as a whole person and assisting you with your overall health where possible.

We have hygiene appointments available Monday through to Friday, including out of hours appointments to cater to busy individuals. Our extended hours are there to help you schedule around your work and/or family commitments.

Frequently asked questions

Dental cleanings are essential because they ensure that patients' gums and teeth are in good health. They are a crucial component of one's entire dental care regimen since they aid in removing plaque and tartar build-up, which can cause issues with the mouth including tooth decay. A dentist or hygienist is able to clean areas around the teeth and gums that are impossible for you to reach with regular brushing.
No, a regular dental check-up and cleaning shouldn't hurt. As the dentist or hygienist carefully cleans your teeth to get rid of any plaque and tartar, you might experience some sensitivity or slight discomfort. If you do feel any sensitivity, be sure to let your dentist know and they will assist you in managing this. We have lots of tools and tricks to overcome sensitivity and will tailor your clean appointment to suit your needs.
It is generally recommended that patients visit a dental hygienist at least twice a year for preventive care, although some patients may need to visit more frequently depending on their individual needs. Your dental hygienist can help you determine the best frequency for your visits based on your oral health status, age, and other factors.
A dental hygienist is a licensed dental professional who works as part of a dental team alongside dentists and dental assistants. They typically provide preventive care to patients, such as cleaning teeth, taking X-rays, and applying fluoride treatments. They may also educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and provide advice on diet and lifestyle choices that can impact oral health.
