Invisible braces or clear aligners, like Invisalign and Sure Smile, are an increasingly popular way to straighten your teeth. More comfortable, more discreet, and more convenient than traditional orthodontic treatments, it is no wonder they have become so popular.

Before After

What are the major benefits?

There are many benefits of invisible braces over traditional orthodontic methods. Invisible braces are:

  • Discreet – You can feel confident during and after the treatment
  • Removable –It’s easy to brush and floss your teeth
  • Comfortable – No metal brackets or wires to irritate your mouth
  • Flexibility – With the flexibility of being removable, it’s the orthodontic solution that can work around your lifestyle
  • Eat what you want – Because you take the aligners out when you eat

Sometimes we may need to refer you to one of our trusted orthodontist partners for more complex issues.

Not Just Cosmetic Outcomes

The benefits of straight teeth are not just cosmetic. Irregularly aligned teeth can lead to oral health problems, including tooth damage and chipping, tooth loss, degrading tooth enamel, difficulty chewing properly or speaking. Straightening your teeth can make a significant difference to dental problems caused by misaligned teeth.

What are Invisible Braces?

Teeth straightening methods have come a long way. Metal braces with unsightly wires are no longer your only option. Invisible braces and clear aligner therapy provide an almost invisible way to straighten your teeth.

Clear aligners are transparent, custom-made devices that fit perfectly over your teeth, like a discrete mouthguard. You will receive a set of aligners, each one slightly different, to gradually reposition your teeth. Each aligner is worn for approximately two weeks, adjusting your teeth progressively. At Azura, we use leading clear aligner brands Invisalign and Sure Smile.

Teeth straightening at Azura

The first step is to book a consultation with one of our practitioners to evaluate your smile for any concerns regarding crooked or misplaced teeth or an uneven smile. Our practitioners will assess your teeth, bite and smile together and create a plan to correct issues like an overbite, underbite or rotated teeth. We will ensure the results align with your goals and your teeth can function as they should.

We will take a digital scan of your teeth to design your new smile. The scan is a lot more comfortable than creating physical impressions and more accurate. This information is used to map each step of your treatment to ensure each tooth moves the correct amount at the right time.

Your custom-made clear aligners are then manufactured using medical-grade BPA-free, phthalate-free clear thermoplastic using state of the art technology.

Your safety is our first concern, from scanning and modelling through to your finished smile. It is essential for your comfort that your aligners are designed and manufactured to fit you correctly. We will provide you with a set of aligners to use over the treatment period according to your individual plan. Our practitioners will monitor your teeth as they straighten to ensure they are progressing as expected. We will guide you through the process and advise you when to change to the next aligner in your sequence based on your individual case.

Your treatment can take anywhere from six months to two years on average. The length of treatment will depend on how far your teeth need to move, how complicated your treatment is, and how long you are wearing your aligners for during the day and night.

Our practitioners will be with you through every step of your journey to a healthy smile.

After you have completed your clear aligner/invisible braces treatment your dentist will discuss with you having either a retainer to wear at night-time, or having a wire attached to the back of your teeth. Both of these options are to retain your newly straightened teeth, and prevent from moving. Your dentist will recommend which option is more suitable for you. Yes, you should never miss a scheduled dental examination. Your cleanings are actually more crucial than ever because your aligners may make you more susceptible to plaque and tartar build-up. A Dental clean is the only method that ensures nearly all harmful build-up is removed from your mouth. Your dentist also looks for any potential problems at check-up appointments so they can be addressed early.
